Brioche is one of my favorite bread/pastries to make and the dough is so versitile it's amazing and taste great. I use it for French Toast, Bread pudding, sweet Crutons for desserts and just sliced and drizzled with warm Nutella...
1 tbsp active dry yeast
1/3 cup 110 F water
3 1/2 cups flour - all purpose
3 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
4 large eggs
1 cup room chilled and cubed
1 egg yolk
1 tbsp water
1 - Dissolve yeast in water and let stand for 10 min.
2 - In a bowl combine flour, sugar and salt with the yeast mixture
3 - Add eggs and blend until comes together adding butter cubes a little at a time until incorporated
4 - Place in a bowl, oil top of dough and cover with towel for 1 hour
5 - Knock down dough and place in fridge for 30 mins *Dough can sit in fridge over night*
6 - divide into two 9x5 loaf pans, cover until doubles in size about 45 mins
7 - Preheat oven to 400 F and egg wash tops of loaves and bake for 30 mins (about)
8 - Let loaves cool in pans for about 10 mins and then transfer to wire racks to completely cool
9 - Enjoy!!
